FAQ

It is clear that artificial grass is ecological:

-       Major water saving (especially in places where grass does not grow naturally or rain is scarce)

-       100% recyclable product (there are manufacturers on the market that finish their products with polyurethane and they certify the possible recycling or reuse of their products)

-       Natural or recycled infill. The infill of artificial grass can be natural silica sand or recycled tires (we contribute to reusing and extending the use of a material that can be difficult to eliminate)

-       No need for any kind of fertilizer: The subsoil is not polluted.

DOES ARTIFICIAL GRASS REQUIRE MAINTENANCE?

Artificial grass is an outdoor flooring that, obviously, requires care and cleaning.

DOES ARTIFICIAL GRASS HAVE A LIMITED LIFE?

Artificial grass is a synthetic product exposed to the elements. Its current duration is around 10-15 years, with anti-UV guarantees from the manufacturers of up to 8 and 10 years.

The development of fibres for the manufacture of artificial grass is taking giant steps forward, innovating year after year in terms of composition and sections, thus offering greater resistance to wear and the flattening of yarns.

It is important to know the quality and composition of the fibres of the grass you are buying.

IS ARTIFICIAL GRASS HARMLESS AS REGARDS USERS’ HEALTH?

Testimony: Artificial grass contains heavy metals like aluminium, cadmium, chrome, copper, iron, magnesium…

-       It is unlikely that all artificial grass contains heavy materials since these are illegal in Europe. Some products from Asian countries do not meet these requirements, and so it has become fashionable for manufacturers to declare that they do not use metals in their products.

Testimony: Artificial grass creates allergic reactions

-        The composition of the fibres does not create allergic reactions, and evidence of this is the growing popularity of artificial grass in children’s playparks and nurseries.

Testimony: A fall on artificial grass causes serious skin burns

-       A fall on good quality artificial grass is nothing like what might have been the case years ago on the so-called synthetic grass. Nowadays, the fibres are less abrasive and softer, and the infills have improved: they act as better cushions and are less compact. The risk of muscle injuries or skin burns from falls and scrapes is considerably smaller now than in previous decades. Qualified laboratories are working on research into this kind of risk. For this reason, the number of sports facilities using artificial grass at clubs or practice grounds at the highest level is increasing daily (especially in football and padel tennis).

Testimony: Artificial grass concentrates the heat, making a garden an inhospitable space that cannot be used until very late in the day.

-       Artificial grass increases in temperatures when it is exposed to numerous hours of intense sun. Even so, it would be an exaggeration to say that it becomes an inhospitable space. Sprinkling it for about two minutes refreshes it, and the sand infill retains the moisture.

DOES ARTIFICIAL GRASS HAVE SIMILAR CHARACTERISTICS TO NATURAL GRASS?

Artificial grass aims to simulate the softness, appearance and user interaction of natural grass; however, it is unlikely it will ever be able to offer an exact similarity.

Natural grass grows, has a scent, soothes… It would be irrational and unfair to artificial grass manufacturers, distributors and installers to make comparisons.
