TINY COLORS ARTIFICIAL GRASS AND POLYURETHANE FOAM FOR CHILDREN’S PLAYPARKS
When we go to the playpark with our kids, we often notice the poor condition these places are in. There are holes and puddles in the sand and the grass in some areas has worn away or is missing. Sometimes you can even see stones.
This poor condition is not merely an aesthetic or hygienic problem; these defects also affect children’s safety.
Over the last few years, children’s playparks with rubber flooring have spread. This solution has provided many practical and aesthetic advantages.
As well as improving drainage, rubber flooring improves safety thanks to its impact absorption capacity. It also improves the look of the park, since it can be painted in different colours.
However, over time, the brightness of colours fades and, in the most used areas, the flooring wears away and so the rubber erodes and starts to crack.
With tiles, this wear is even more obvious, and part of the impact absorption capacity is lost.
Turfgrass has developed a new artificial grass product that consists of a layer of polyurethane that is either stuck or not to the grass carpet’s backing. As well as providing endless uses for gardening and some sports, this product has become the best option to cover surfaces used as play areas thanks to its impact absorption capacity.
Turfgrass polyurethane foam has been submitted to different tests using the Head Injury Criterion, always with success. The most interesting results were obtained with the 12 and 20mm thick samples covered with artificial grass.

-Stability: both the base and the grass can withstand extremely hot and cold temperatures without wearing away, dissolving or cracking.
-Aesthetics: as well as all the above-mentioned technical aspects, the different Tiny Colors artificial grass colours can be combined, creating shapes and adding a different, fun touch to kids’ playparks.
